In a significant stride towards enhancing gender diversity and inclusivity in the technology sector, Rewriting the Code, a non-profit organization based in the US, has announced its expansion into the United Kingdom. This strategic move marks a pivotal step in their global growth initiative aimed at fostering a more inclusive environment within the tech industry.
Spearheading this expansion is Sue Harnett, President, and CEO of Rewriting the Code, who shared, “Our entry into the UK signifies a momentous leap forward in our mission to bolster women’s influence, representation, and life experiences in the realm of technology.”
Harnett expressed eagerness about leveraging the organization’s extensive resources, strong industry relationships, and a supportive network of women to unlock new opportunities for female university students and early-career professionals, thereby catalyzing greater diversity throughout the UK’s technology landscape.

Reflecting on the organization’s growth, Jessica expressed, “Rewriting the Code’s community has always been inclusive and open to a global audience, and I’m excited to extend our services more intentionally to our members in the UK.”
She highlighted the rapid expansion of the UK tech industry, underscoring the importance of empowering women in tech to ensure that a generation of engineers and tech leaders is not left untapped. Jessica emphasized that Rewriting the Code’s comprehensive approach provides year-round engagement and access for women at every stage of their tech journey, driving a more sustainable progression toward achieving gender balance.
